Appropriating the Promises of God

FAITH CONFESSION: I will take possession of every promise that God has declared concerning me and expect manifested results.

There are approximately 7959 promises recorded in the bible. We have learned that the Bible records two kinds of promises from God. Unconditional (one whose fulfillment rests solely with the Lord) and Conditional (the Lord is willing to act under certain circumstances which involves our cooperation). Our goal is to learn about these promises and appropriate those that were designated for us.

Isaiah 54:1 (New Living Translation) “Sing, O childless woman, you who have never given birth! Break into loud and joyful song, O Jerusalem, you who have never been in labor. For the desolate woman now has more children than the woman who lives with her husband,” says the Lord.

As we look at the women in this scripture, their present situation displayed that they were barren (i.e. unfruitful, unproductive, etc.). Apparently, other women around them were fruitful (giving birth) and they weren't.

Many people in the Body of Christ may find themselves in seasons of drought from time to time. It may seem as if the unbelievers are prospering and enjoying their lives; while those who are living for Christ are suffering. The bible has a word of encouragement for us when we start feeling as if serving God has no benefits.

Psalm 37:1 Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. 2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. 3. Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

We don’t have to be envious of those who are ungodly. Their season will change. God promises to sustain His children even in seasons of drought.

“Sing, O childless woman, you who have never given birth! Break into loud and joyful song… While these women were experiencing unfruitfulness in their lives, they were in their Season of Declaration. The instruction from the man of God was not to confess their situation; the command was to declare their deliverance.

Their present situation displayed that they were barren, unfruitful, isolated, abandoned and forsaken. Even in the midst of all of that, the Prophet sent a word of faith for them to hold on to. “…Break forth into Singing & Cry Aloud…” (In other words, Give God Praise! – Verbal Declaration/Faith Confessions)

I think that it is important for us to understand the seasons that we are in (corporately and individually). It is also important to note that our season is not always indicative of our destiny.

Corporately: Sometimes it may seem like the church is not growing; it may seem like the vision is not coming to pass; it may seem like our labor is in vain; it may seem like the people are not getting it, etc. My confessions can’t be what I see with my eyes; it must be what I see in my spirit (which is in alignment with the Word of God).

Declaration: Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

I declare and decree that The Church is prospering in the things of God. I speak supernatural increase over this local assembly of believers. I declare that the gates of hell will no prevail and the people of God are advancing the Kingdom of God. I release faith into the atmosphere; I speak deliverance, healing, wealth, favor, manifested miracles, and divine favor over the people of God in this church; in Jesus Name!

We may not be seeing the results that we desire; everyone else may seem to be prospering except for us; we pray for others and watch them get their deliverance when we need deliverance for ourselves, we pray for others healing and we need manifested healing ourselves, etc.

Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

I declare and decree that I am prospering in the things of God. I stand in agreement with the Word of God that says all things are working together for my good. I stand on the promises of God concerning my life, my faith, my family, my finances, my job, my health, and my ministry. I am not defeated, I am not depressed, I am not unloved,
